Turn an email into an appointment in Gmail

By

For those that use Gmail and Google calendar, you know (or maybe you don't) that if you hover your mouse over a date/time in an email it will relate itself to your calendar and enable you to schedule that appointment and not leave your email.

What about those emails that don't have a date/time but you want to be able to turn that email into an appointment - a big TO-DO in your day...saving the email and everything in it?

It's super cool - when you are reading the email in Gmail - see that little arrow over there?  If you click that, it will open up completely....

Then, when you have it email open, it will give you a new menu, and you can "create an event" with that email...

It will then open up your calendar, and enable you to add location, invite additional guests (and I always delete myself and the email sender unless I want them to get a notification, but since I use this mainly for reminders for myself for extra important "things to do" for myself...I delete the guest list) and VOILA - you now have an appointment with all the information intact for you to reference.

Happy tasking!!

A splendid tip Linda DeVlieg > in your Turn an email into an appointment in Gmail . I use MS Outlook.  There are a few more steps.  You have to hover over the email "right click" then follow up and 'add a reminder'.  Maybe I should blog on that too!  Thanks.  I clicked LIKE.

Yes you should!  I haven't used Outlook for a long time, but I think that having the ability to add something to a calendar without leaving the email is such a time saver!

I really need to start using my Google calendar more often.  I'm still so old school and handwrite on an actual paper calendar!

Oh my it's amazing; once you use a Google calendar you will never find another better!  ....

Unless you also integrate Fantastical calendar, which is amazing too
