To each of us, feeling at home means something different. The community of Parkland is where I grew up and although I no longer live there, it still feels like home. Now, I have the privilege of helping other people find their perfect Parkland home.
Parkland is an established neighbourhood located in Southeast Calgary. It is bordered to the north by Canyon Meadows Drive and to the east by Bow Bottom Trail. Residents here enjoy convenient access to several major thoroughfares including MacLeod Trail, Stoney Trail, and Deerfoot Trail.
It’s not surprising why Parkland has become such a desirable place to buy a home. This neighbourhood features excellent detached family homes ranging from cozy bungalows to bright and spacious two-story homes. The yards are large and private, and the mature trees give each property a unique look of its own. Parkland is perfect for buyers who value lot size over square footage and are looking for the character of an older home.
One of Parkland’s most desirable features is its close proximity to the beautiful Fish Creek Provincial Park. Fish Creek is one of the largest urban parks in North America, spanning 19 km from east to west. The park features an extensive trail system, perfect for hiking and biking. There are day-camping facilities, stables and a man-made lake with a beach – a popular destination in the summer time. Fish Creek is also home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, owls and beavers. I have fond memories of walking and cross country skiing in Fish Creek.
At the heart of Parkland, is a wonderful community center. Park 96 is host to a lengthy list of community events throughout the year. This park is used exclusively by members of the Parkland community and their guests. It provides residents with access to a cookhouse, skating rink, tennis courts, and a playground.
