My last dog was adopted. My nephew and niece had a Terrier/Poodle mix and they needed a home for him and I thought I would come tot he rescue. Taking care of that dog...well I thought it would kill me. He looked like Toto from the Wizard of OZ. He loved to chew up shoes. He ran and did not listen and pooped on the floor!! But being loyal as I am I kept him. This darn dog would take off in the morning when it was time for me to go to work. He would growl at my kids and just terrorize us. My daughter still loved him so much that I could not get rid of him and could not imagine anyone else would want him. Anyway I thought that dog would be the death of me!!! When he died I thought I would NEVER get another dog. I went about 15 or more years without another animal. I had always loved animals and growing up it seemed I always had a pet in the house so I missed having one around but the trauma of the demon dog stayed with me for a very long time.
I realized that it is most important to get a dog who fit my life style and began to research everything I could about different breeds of dogs. I even set up appointments to meet dogs and have a trial period with a few dogs. Then I had a neighbor call me to list her home. She had a four month old Shih Tzu and he was driving her crazy. She said she needed to list the house right away but couldn't with the four month old puppy peeing on the floor and all. He was so problematic she did not know what to do with the puppy. I had not met the pup at the time and did not want to offer to take it... I knew nothing about Shih Tzu's. So I suggested she bring it to the Saint Francis Animal shelter. When she called the shelter they said they could not take the pup till Friday. So I said "I can take him for a couple days". ... and of course fell in love!!! Then adopted him. He needed to be trained, but he learned so quick! His worse habit was that he would get so excited he put holes in your clothes trying to get your attention, but that bad habit stopped quickly as well. He learned so FAST!

he is one of the greatest blessings of my life! I never knew how lovable a little Shih Tzu could be! I just LOVED this puppy! I read everything I could about the breed, it was such a great fit for me~ He is such a blessing and so smart. He loves to open his birthday and Christmas presents, all you need to do is tell him it is his present and he will open it up! Then tell him once what the name of the toy is and he won't forget. Go ask him for Blue, or Purple or his pink dog or alligator or even his snowman or blanket and he will usually comply. He is Great with kids and sensitive too! He doesn't need a walk everyday. He is a good dog. He thinks everyone who walks through the door is here to see him. Everyone loves him! He comes to work with me now and then, or long trips. He loves to ride and I sometimes forget he is even in the car. When we eat he lays sweetly in the next room until we are done, then he gets his treat.
Real Estate is a Fascinating Field and I have had lots Fun and lots of blessings.
But Bailey is one of the greatest!
