Last Nights Superbowl was very exciting to watch and for a Patriots fan a thrilling victory.
Today's highlights and talk has really been centered around the final moments of the game. Most of the focus has been on Pete Carroll and his decision to have a pass play versus a run based on their field position. What I wanted to do was point out two other plays/players.
The first one was Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and that unbelievable catch he made. That play looked to be over. Patriots Malcolm Butler was able to get a hand in and swat at the pass but somehow Kearse caught it by not giving up and putting in some great effort. He didn't give up and he was rewarded with the reception.
Two plays later that catch really no longer mattered, but great job on his part anyway.
With basically all hope of a Patriot win gone, a miracle happened. Patriots Malcolm Butler intercepted the football.
Game over.

What really got me thinking was some of Malcolm Butlers comments when interviewed after the game. He really is a hero of this Superbowl and the Patriots victory.
Butler said that he knew what was going to happen, he had seen it before while studying film. That's it, this is awesome, he had come up and made this one play that had Patriots fans everywhere jumping out of their seats with joy because he had done his homework. He was prepared for this moment.He recognized the Seahawks formation from putting in his time doing his homework. He knew what to do.
Really good stuff and I really hope that kids everywhere wearing the Jerseys of either of these two men get some inspiration here. Don't give up. Give your best effort. Study hard and do your homework so you are prepared for what opportunity's present themselves.
