What happened to customer service?

When did it become more about the numbers than the customer? I was always trained when you take care of the customer everything else just falls into place. The more we push the further away out customers get. If you help someone with compassion and integrity then they will tell everyone who needs help to come to you. You don't help someone and push them away they will tell twice as many people. Lets help as many people as possible with honesty plus treat them like we want to be treated and good things will come.

I believe it's true, people will tell twice as many people the negatives they have to say about us. That's definitely motivation to give our clients the best service possible.

Darrell. You said it perfect. If we all treat people like we want to be treated, this world would be an easier place to live. Thanks for the post, Keith..

Follow the customer and not the money and you will most likely have a client for life.

Nice post, Darrell! I've always made it a practice to empathize with my customers, and the honest, genuine compassion shown has earned me more business than I could have hoped for; my biggest issue is when some less scrupulous businesses come in offering the world, and then when the customer goes with them to closing, only to find it couldn't be delivered, I get many calls after it's too late, stating, "I wish I would have listened to you!" These are the people I really am sad for in the end.

I agree Bo. I always tell my clients to do homework. Check on everyone and trust nobody! Trust should never be given. It should be earned. My loan officers and mortgage officers have my trust and I have the trust I have earned from them. They know I will not lie or cheat a customer.

Absolute 100% true Peter!

Keith: Thanks for the reply!

Rosario: Just about all of my business is referral and most of them call me on my cell. My office phone does not ring much because I make sure all of my customers have my cell number. You never sell. You can always sell a product or a service but step back and ask, Can you sell yourself?
