Well, it had to happen. Seems like every company and website is under constant attack from a variety of hackers. Sometimes these hackers crack the code, and can disrupt or bring entire companies to a grinding halt. Retail stores are constant targets, as well as any company the takes payments by credit card. I hate to even think about all the mobile apps out there where people are scanning customers credit card info on their smart phones. All types of digital or electronic payment methods carry some risks.
I recently had to cancel one of my credit cards because my bank noticed suspicious activity on my card in France. I've never been to France. Not sure how someone there got my cc info. Anyway, the bank didn't honor the charge because they noticed it was suspicous. Lucky for me. I canceled the card, and bank issued me a new one with new #s.
Several times I thought about starting a password account with lastpass, because I heard that they were one of the better companies in that industry. I have so many passwords, I figured that would be the best way to keep track of them. But I always worried about a hack like this, and someone gaining access to all of my passwords at one time, encrypted or not.
This just makes me want to go through and change / update all my passwords to something more secure.
