A New Place to Chill in Gainesville, VA:  Trummer's Coffee & Wine Bar

Gainesville has been seeing some new retail and restaurants popping up in the Promenade shopping center.  The latest is one that is already generating a lot of business--Trummer's Coffee & Wine Bar.  The concept came from the owner, Stefan Trummer, who owns and operates a restaurant in Clifton, VA bearing his name, Trummer's on Main

The Coffee & Wine Bar is one that I have had the privilege of visiting three times.  The first was for their grand opening weekend.  There I enjoyed their signature cocktail, a Titanic.  A mixture of gin, champagne, sherbet and some other spirit....well....hearing the list of ingredients, I wasn't sure I would like it.  It was worthy of going for a second round.  Unfortunately, I didn't have my mind set to snap a photo of the drink as I was too busy enjoying it.

That grand opening night that I sat in the outdoor patio and enjoyed those Titantics, I made a mental note to come back for the Beignets.  I could smell them from the next table over, but had already indulged in pretzel bread and what was a pub cheese.  My tummy was also doing a happy dance over what I will call their mac & cheese.  Homemade pasta in a wonderful bunch of cheeses with some bacon and onions atop.  I'll stop there and let you drool.

The next trip was for a late breakfast, when I ordered beignets and was offered the Cafe Du Mond experience of New Orleans, complimenting my Beignets with a Cafe Aulait.  Having been to New Orleans and had those Cafe Du Mond beignets, I can tell you, there is Trummer's Wine & Coffee Barno duplicating that experience.  But as far as beignets in Northern Virginia are concerned, I was pleased.

Today, I met an associate for coffee.  I tried a chocolate croissant, which I definitely enjoyed.  It was warmed and served on a plate with a drizzle of chocolate.  You can't take me anywhere.  I didn't notice the chocolate drizzle on the plate, being deep in conversation with my associate, and picked up to take a bit, only to incriminate myself with chocolate fingertips.

Trummer's Wine & Coffee Bar in Gainesville is going to be a frequent stop for me.  Each time I'm there, I see someone being served something I want to try.  Next up, the Viennese Eis Cafe, which looked like a vanilla milkshake.

Hi Chris Ann, I love independently owned establishments and Trummer's Coffee & Wine Bar sounds like it is. Enjoy a drink and chat with the person next to you.

Trummer's Coffee & Wine Bar sounds delightful! Having also had Cafe du Monds' beignets and Cafe Aulait, that is indeed a tough act to follow; but I'm glad you discovered a substitute in Gainesville, VA.

A coffee and wine bar. . .What a wonderful idea.  That way, you can say you were at Trummer's, and no one would know whether it was for the coffee or the wine.

Chris Ann Cleland You really know how to hurt a guy; writing about Beignets! Gee! I wonder if I could sneak one in without the powdered sugar?

Pat Starnes --  It is definitely one of my favorite stops in Gainesville now.

Myrl Jeffcoat -- And I haven't even had wine there yet!  A Titanic and two trips for coffee.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel -- It's a toss up between the beignets and the chocolate croissant.  Both were so good in their own right.

I haven't had dinner yet and I'm starving so all this post did was make me hungrier. I bet the mac and cheese was finished in the oven with a crunch topping, no? If not, I'm sure it was delicious anyway.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents -- It had some bacon and sauteed onions on top.  I will say, if you have ever had a perogie, it tasted very similar, just was packaged as mac & cheese.
