A New Place to Chill in Gainesville, VA: Trummer's Coffee & Wine Bar
Gainesville has been seeing some new retail and restaurants popping up in the Promenade shopping center. The latest is one that is already generating a lot of business--Trummer's Coffee & Wine Bar. The concept came from the owner, Stefan Trummer, who owns and operates a restaurant in Clifton, VA bearing his name, Trummer's on Main.
The Coffee & Wine Bar is one that I have had the privilege of visiting three times. The first was for their grand opening weekend. There I enjoyed their signature cocktail, a Titanic. A mixture of gin, champagne, sherbet and some other spirit....well....hearing the list of ingredients, I wasn't sure I would like it. It was worthy of going for a second round. Unfortunately, I didn't have my mind set to snap a photo of the drink as I was too busy enjoying it.
That grand opening night that I sat in the outdoor patio and enjoyed those Titantics, I made a mental note to come back for the Beignets. I could smell them from the next table over, but had already indulged in pretzel bread and what was a pub cheese. My tummy was also doing a happy dance over what I will call their mac & cheese. Homemade pasta in a wonderful bunch of cheeses with some bacon and onions atop. I'll stop there and let you drool.
The next trip was for a late breakfast, when I ordered beignets and was offered the Cafe Du Mond experience of New Orleans, complimenting my Beignets with a Cafe Aulait. Having been to New Orleans and had those Cafe Du Mond beignets, I can tell you, there is no duplicating that experience. But as far as beignets in Northern Virginia are concerned, I was pleased.
Today, I met an associate for coffee. I tried a chocolate croissant, which I definitely enjoyed. It was warmed and served on a plate with a drizzle of chocolate. You can't take me anywhere. I didn't notice the chocolate drizzle on the plate, being deep in conversation with my associate, and picked up to take a bit, only to incriminate myself with chocolate fingertips.
Trummer's Wine & Coffee Bar in Gainesville is going to be a frequent stop for me. Each time I'm there, I see someone being served something I want to try. Next up, the Viennese Eis Cafe, which looked like a vanilla milkshake.
