Nothing is more important than knowing that your family and home are safe and secure. Security systems for your home have changed dramatically in the past few years. Determining the best strategies for how to make a home security system work for you is an important decision. The new smart lock technology can be compared to having a team of 24/7 locksmiths on call. Relying on an emergency locksmith and hiding a key under the mat will soon become nostalgic safeguards relegated to times past, as homeowners upgrade their house to the new smart locks that provide fail safe ways to access your home remotely, distribute electronics keys to guests, and provide an activity record. Below are 5 smart locks suggested by South Perth Locksmith.

Kwikset Kevo

A reliable smart lock contender that merits any consumer's consideration is Kwikset Kevo. It's dependability is credited to the fact that the manufacturer, Unikey, has been producing smart keys longer than most of its competitors. The experience shows in the product's reliability. Additionally, this lock is easy to install and guest keys are made available for friends and for workers that need access for repairs.

Lockitron Bolt

For economy-minded consumers seeking a versatile lock that works with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the Bolt offers an excellent solution. As the most affordable lock mentioned here, it is also easy to install and comes with a superior support network should problems arise. Additionally, the remote lock capability provides extra security as needed when strangers show up unexpectedly.

Haven

Significantly different from the other smart locks on the market, Haven offers homeowners a security system that operates as a barrier running along the bottom of the door. Considered to be superior to a deadbolt, Haven promises its customers that the door cannot be kicked in. In addition to the added security, both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are compatible with Haven.

Goji Smart Lock

Due to roll out this fall, in 2015, this much anticipated smart lock boasts a couple of noteworthy features worthy of review. A camera added to the lock allows homeowners to see the face of a person at the door. Should problems arise, 24/7 customer support is available and distinguishes Goji as a leader in the field.

Danalock

If style is your top priority, then Danalock might be your answer. This lock has all the bells and whistles that most buyers want such as remote access and activity logs along with an abundance of styles that fit both American and European doors. When you combine fashion and practicality with the versatility of using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Z-Wave as an option, this affordably priced smart lock earns a spot in the top five.

Conclusion

Smart lock technology has transformed the home security industry and provided homeowners with many exciting new options. Priced at prices as low as $99 and over $300, the market provides many different levels of protection with a host of extra features that can make life easier. Assessing your family's needs first will make the shopping process easier. Criteria for making the best smart lock decision include asking questions about ease of installation, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth compatibility, remote access capability, guest keys, price, dependability and customer support.

Joe McCord - My wife and I own a future retirement/vacation home in Chile and we are always on the lookout for home security features that also make our life easier. Smart locks may be an option but I'm concerned with power outages and less than dependable Internet service and speeds. Internet service  outside the U.S. are quite different based on my experience in Chile, Macedonia, Mexico, and Italy.

Thanks for following up on my comment Joe. Yes, I'll look into that. As long as there is a back-up system like a battery it should work fine for my purpose. I come from a long line of home builders and cabinetmakers (great-grandfather and grandfather) so I like to keep current on new building features.
