Security Tips from Leisure World Maryland
Security and Transportation Department
Whether in or out of the community these resident tips will help to keep you safe and secure!
Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft
Never give personal information to people over the phone, on the Internet or through the mail. Identity thieves claim to be from the government, your bank, or even law enforcement. Keeping your personal information private is one of the best ways to prevent identity theft. If something sounds too good to be true, chances are it is too good to be true.
Keep Your Belongings Safe
Remove valuables from your vehicle and never leave a vehicle unsecured. Keep your home and vehicle secure by locking doors at all times and reporting any suspicious activity to Security.
Know Who You are Hiring
You can verify a business or worker with the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection (240-777-3636) and individual court case records can be searched at (http:// casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiry-index.jsp). More steps to follow when hiring help can be found in the Security Office.
Notify Security of Visitors
Security appreciates your assistance in expediting the entry of your guests into the community. Residents expecting more than five guests at any one time are encouraged to fill out the form titled “Notification of Guests/Visitors Expected.” These forms are available in the Security Office.
