Is the idea of walking into a “sauna” preventing you from retrieving items

Even with temperatures in the 80’s, the temperature in your attic can get above
150 degrees if you don’t have an attic fan. With an attic fan operating during
the hot summer days, your attic can be up to 50 degrees cooler. A solar fan
can help exhaust the hot air from your attic and you can do it using the sun’s energy!
Before considering a solar attic fan, here are a couple of pros and cons:
PROS:
- Solar units do not require any wiring. Just drop the unit in a hole in your roof.
- It’s ready to go. This is a great advantage for attic spaces that are difficult access.
- Since there is no wiring involved, solar units are much easier to install.
- Solar energy is clean, renewable, and free!
- Solar models are considered quieter than wired versions.
CONS:
- There are some claims that solar fans are not powerful enough.
- Solar fans don’t run at night. The air will stay hot in the attic even with cool night temps.
Do some investigating on your own to see if a solar powered attic fan will be beneficial to you.
Consulting with your local hardware store can also be helpful as part of your research.
You could be saving money and maybe have an incentive to get in that attic to do some organizing!
