MISS NOLAS RESTAURANT HAS MADE QUITE A STIR IN CAMAS WA

It's hard to impress me with Southern Cooking. I'm from Mississippi and have very stringent expectations for meal staples. I can truly say that "Miss Nolas" in downtown Camas meets almost every single recipe right on the dot!

First, I should say...if you are from Mississippi/Louisianna...the NOLA part of the name of the restraurant stands for: New Orleans Louisianna. (A true southerner blends the words New Orleans to sound like Nawlin's.)

I have eaten at NOLAS several times! We love Nick the waiter!

Here are the recipes I have tried and loved so far:

This Crawfish Ettoufette is extremely perfect and my favorite of all. Try it...you'll love it.

Parker rolls and Pickles...good appetizer.

Catfish, either blackened or not blackened...both are delicious.

Macaroni and cheese...excellent.

Shrimp and Grits....Delicious.

Muffaleta....(sandwhich) is great.

Oyster Po Boy....was good too.

Jambalya...was terrific.

Not my exact favorite were the collards with apple and bacon...it's just not a recipe I grew up with-too sweet for me. I prefer collards or turnip greens with cornbread. The other item that was not perfect for my childhood memories was the coleslaw. But...that's just me. It could be just my family's preferences of course.

I can highly recomment Miss Nolas!!!! Love this place.  I'm so far from HOME/Mississippi...I would go there several times a month for sure.  Hopefully they will have cornbread some day!!

Jill, That sounds so tasty and a nice surprise to find in the Northwest. Good cajun cooking makes my mouth water. I have been craving some seafood gumbo for a couple of weeks. Maybe next week. BTW, thanks for following my blog. I consider it a great compliment.

Hi Jill, I used to go to the NO Jazz fest every year for the second weekend which calls on my birthday May 5th. I always had a good time and loved the food.

Cornbread is definately a staple in the South.  Especially sweet cornbread!
