Saving Fuel and Marriages!

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

Ok I have read several posts lately about fuel prices and stretching budgets.....so let me show all of you married agents who commute quite a few miles how to cut back on the fuel expense and improve your relationship at home.

If you and your spouse take seperate vehicles to work ....Don't.

My wife and I live about 35 miles from the city we work in. We both have to use our vehicles to work out of at seperate jobs.

I have begun to leave mine at her office each evenings, and then take it all the way home on weekends.  I calculated the savings at around one tank of gas a week. Wow. That is roughly $300. /month or enough savings to help offset the new xtra high gas prices.

And

The one  hour a day in the car we spend with each other allows for the discussions we need to have with one another in private, without TV. or other interruptions.

Have a prosperous week

Very very good idea. You kind of kill two birds with one stone. $ 300.00 per month is an enormous savings. Calculate what you will save if you put that away each month for a few years and use the compound interest scenario. I think you will be amazed at what you really have saved.  Thanks, Keith

This is the kind of "out of the box" thinking we will need more of as a society to get through these difficult times.  Thanks for sharing such a great idea with us!

You are so right.  Why not commute?  Years ago we did that and it did give us that extra time together.

My parents do this even though it means longer days as their work schedules don't always coincide. But that means more time together so it's all worth it!

Even with 3 kids, I can't think of a time in the last six months that we have used the 2nd car at the same time. We always go together now, if not just for the saving gas thing, but so we can spend more time together.
