The narrows north of Broken Bow Lake Broken Bow, Oklahoma is just south of Broken Bow Lake by about 10 to 15 minutes.  Broken Bow Lake  has the clearest and cleanest water in the state. In order of Clarity in this published report by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Broken Bow Lake tops the list.  

 

Broken Bow Lake is a deep water lake and very clear allowing light to penetrate deep into the water. The state also stocks and maintains trout in the Lower Mountain Fork River below the lake. Cabin rentals are available in the Broken Bow Lake and Mountain Fork areas and float trips are available on the Mountain Fork. Hochatown, the area immediately surrounding Broken Bow Lake has become quite the tourism hot spot in Southeast Oklahoma with new cabins being built in the woods as fast as the contractors can turn them out.

Broken Bow is located in the extreme southeast part of Oklahoma in McCurtain County.  The area is visited often by outdoorsmen for hunting, fishing, atving, hiking, snorkeling & scuba diving and I shouldn't stop there. Combine that with the tourism growth that has spawned numerous award winning restaurants, distilleries, wineries, antique shops, a train ride, trail ride, canoeing, kayaking, float trips down Mt Fork River!  There are just many many reasons to come and enjoy Broken Bow, Hochatown, and Broken Bow Lake.

 

Industy in the Southeast Oklahoma area includes the timber industry and poultry industry, those two along with agriculture (ranches and farms) and tourism, comprise the majority of the industry in the area. With the Kiamichi Mountains close by, there are numerous scenic roads in the area.  Especially in the Autumn of the year, the colors are spectacular from the Talimena Drive.   The population of Broken Bow is around 4200, just right for small town atmosphere and yet a forward-thinking town to move to or do business in.
