It's gray, drizzly and the first Saturday in May which means it's the Opening Day of Boating season in Seattle!  The Seattle Yacht Club in Montlake, is celebrating their 87th year of kicking off the Opening Day of Boating in Seattle.

Boat on the Montlake Cut and passing under the Montlake Bridge

A few days ago the boats began tying up to the log boom just outside of the Montlake Cut outlining where the Parade of Boats will travel and the rowing regatta for the Windermere Cup will race.  While driving back to Seattle from my office in Bellevue, I stopped near the Museum of History and Industry to take a look at the boats lining up and mooring at the log boom to take some photos.

Those are GREAT opening day photos! Just beautiful. I haven't been out to watch opening day in a while. But all my agent friends are going out this weekend. I think I will WORK!

Hi Sarah!  Thank you!  Actually, only the last one is Opening Day of Boating (2007) and the others were taken the Thursday before this years' festivities.

I am hoping to be showing some houses this weekend...I just sent off a few new listings for sound view homes.  This sunny weekend will be a good one to see homes!

Except for Ferries, I have not yet been on a boat in Washington...I would love to watch the 4th of July Fireworks from a boat in Elliott Bay or Lake Union!

I am not a big fan of small boats. But I love the ferries :) Maybe it is because I grew up riding them back and forth from Bremerton. I love that feeling of the wind, even in Winter. Cold salty air = Invigorating.
Hmmm... Maybe I need to take a trip to the Islands again soon.

That's funny Sarah, I think I am the same!  As a kid, I did not like sailing on my Dads' catamaran, you got wet all the time on it, then add the wind blowing on your wet skin....brrr even in San Diego's Mission Bay it was cold!

I love the Ferries too!
