What an impressive site to see. This Grand Hotel has seen many a summer guest while it was a seasonal destination where visitors arrived by train and spent much of the summer playing golf on the Robert Trent Jones course, horse back riding and hiking were also popular activities.
Leap forward over 100 years... This photo was taken 10/5/2016. Foliage is nearing peak. We can count on these dramatic colors to arrive in time for Columbus Day every year and stick around for a few more weeks.
But don't blink... the snow will come all too soon...which means the Bretton Woods Ski Area across the street (one of the largest ski resorts in New Hampshire will be ready to roll out the snow guns soon.
Also Note... the distinctive line leading up to the summit of this 6,300 foot peak, is a very unique incline train called the Cog Railway. Daily rides to the summit until the weather gets really bad.
