Selling a home with Pets
As a pet lover and pet parent my biggest fear is that something happens to my babies when the time comes for selling my home. Thankfully, one of my cats will hide when someone new comes into the house, the other one normally sleeps and my dog is mostly def and blind so he is the sweetest. But selling a home, strangers will come in and out and as a pet parent I want to make sure my babies and of course as a Real Estate agent I want to make sure my sellers babies are okay during the home sales process. So here are some tips.
Crate your dog(s) when you leave the home
This will help your dog being safe but also the buyers. Not everyone is an animal lover and some people are deadly afraid of dogs. It is also a protection for you as you never know how your dog might react if strangers walk into his house.
Doggy Day-Care
Drop your dog at doggy day-care. My friend takes her dog to day care regularly and sweet Charlie Parker loves it there. He gets so excited going to day care, so it can be fun for you and for your dog and the saying goes a tired dog is a good dog.
Take your dog(s) on a walk
It is always best to remove dogs from the home, especially if your dog barks. Buyers will enjoy the visit so much more if there are no dogs barking.
Vacuum & Swifer before showings
Be sure to keep your home clean, especially clean of pet hairs. Vacuum and swifer prior to a showing so that there is no overwhelming evidence of your pets.
Clean litter box regularly
Be sure to cleaning your cat(s) litter box regularly
Use air freshener
You want your home to smell fresh and clean all the time.
Send your pets on vacation to grandma
If at all possible send your pets on a short vacation. This is something that would be really hard for me as I love having my babies around but sometimes its best for your pets and the sale of your home.
