Making a Permanent Change of Station(PCS) can be a big deal especially if you have never been stationed in San Antonio before, but it doesn’t have to be when you have a local Military Relocation Professional, who is willing and available to help to make your move with little or no hassle. Port San Antonio consists of three major posts, Fort Sam Houston, TX, home of the Combat Medic and military medical training center for all branches of service, Lackland Air Force Base, home of the Air Force Basic Airmen Training, and Randolph Air Force Base, known as "the Showplace of the Air Force" because of the Spanish Colonial Revival Style architecture in which all structures including hangars were constructed.

Fort Sam Houston is located northeast of downtown San Antonio, and Randolph AFB is located in the far Northeast between Interstate highways 35 and 10, while Lackland AFB is located in the Northwestern side of town just off Highway 90 West.

Military personnel normally prefer to live closer to the base where they will be working, but off base housing can be found just about anywhere within a 30 minute commute, although early morning and late afternoon traffic can add to that time. The BAH can be very beneficial to help offset the cost for off base housing.

The Basic Allowance for Housing(BAH) is based on the geographic duty station, pay grade, and dependency status. It provides all service members equitable housing compensation based on the housing costs in the local civilian housing markets within the United States when on base government quarters are not provided or available.

The majority of military members will start with on base housing first, but off base housing can be found to meet the needs of service members too.
