Never! The Status Quo seems to be the gold standard for some people and for quite a few businesses as well. There are alot of so called "professionals" who are basically mailing it in on a daily basis. My philosophy is that you only get one shot at each day, so why not try to make the very best of it.
If you can impact a person or the business in a positive manner then you are really doing something out of the ordinary. A cheerful outlook and some manners can go a long way, even in the most challenging environment. I just don't understand how some people can get up every day and just try to hang on and make it through the day only to be miserable throughout the entire process. Then they repeat the next day, and so on........ This has the cumulative effect of possibly bringing those around you down to your level of misery.
I believe the real key to success is to try to make a difference every day. If I'm going to make a mistake or an error in judgment (which I am prone to do), I hope it is because I'm trying to challenge myself and those around me. It's exciting and rewarding to learn new things and to try to improve ourselves and our skills. Not only does it make us better employees and better people, but it might possibly elevate those around us to try to do the same.
Status Quo? nah!
