Stimulus Investing Stimulus money? Make the best of it!

Most will be receiving a chunk of change from the government soon. Free money. Consider taking some of that and making a bit more. ...by saving.

Here are some ideas....

* Replace light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs - they do make a huge difference and last a VERY long time!
* Install a programmable thermostat- set it to a lower temp when you are away . Save fuel!
* Buy Energy Star appliances
* Seal drafts or replace doors and windows that leak
    -sweeps on bottoms of doors
    -window putty or caulking
*  Add insulation - attics, floors, water heaters, pipes and ducts, around light switches, fixtures and outlets
* Replace filters on appliances such as air conditioner
* Service appliances, mowers, vehicles so they work more efficiently... and last longer
* Put all of your appliances on power strips and turn off when not in use
* Replace or repair leaky faucets and toilets(add few drops of food color to the tank and wait. If the water in the bowl changes, you have a leak)
* Install low-flow toilets, low-flow shower heads- they use far less water
* Plant a garden.... or even a few pots of your favorites. The fuel used to transport veggies to grocery stores costs you a bundle
* Buy large containers to collect rain water to water gardens and flowers
* Buy reusable water bottles and coffee mugs
* Buy reusable shopping bags- many stores will give you a discount for each bag you use. If they don't, ask them why not!

In the long run you will save money AND help save the planet.

Invest in the future!!!
