With Labor Day being the unofficial end to summer there is no better way to celebrate than a backyard barbeque in Bucks County! The smoky aroma and savory taste of deviously cooked meats is the perfect way to relax and unwind this Labor Day Weekend. Indulge at one of Bucks County’s fine BBQ restaurants in the area or make a trip to any of the scenic parks to enjoy a picnic with a view.

Make a stop in New Hope and visit Bitter Bob’s for some comfort barbeque. This location offers a relaxed environment with food that you will never forget and its pet-friendly! Their menu is extensive with a variety of options, including wings, ribs, gluten-free, catering and more.

If you’re looking for a place that can please everyone, look no further than Hickory Kitchen. Located in Doylestown, this BYOB restaurant not only offers award-winning traditional style BBQ, hand cut French fries, mac & cheese and vegetarian and kids options as well. The kitchen also has outdoor seating, perfect for a warm summer night.

For those with a big appetite, Big Bites BBQ is the spot for you. Stop and enjoy their tender, slow-smoked meat from the family-owned and operated restaurant. Chow down on brisket or pork ribs and finish off your meal with some fresh red potato salad. Utilize the catering options or take your meal to go!

From burgers to BBQ ribs, you will not want to miss the offerings from Buttonwood Grill! Work up an appetite shopping in Peddler's Village and treat yourself to a Guinness BBQ Onion 'n Bacon Burger. Choose a half rack or a full rack of the rubbed and smoked baby back ribs glazed with a Guinness BBQ sauce! Wash down either entree with a seasonal draft beer or summery cocktail.

Don’t blink or you might drive past this stop for the best barbecue in Bucks! Oink Johnson’s Southern BBQ is located on the side of the road on route 611. The menu includes brisket, chicken, pulled pork and ribs that will have you driving back out to the countryside for seconds! This hidden gem is a local favorite that has been around for years. The spot is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so it’s an ideal summer weekend activity!

Get your Labor Day party catered by Mission BBQ, or stop in for a quick bite to eat! The mission of Mission BBQ is more than about great food; they are dedicated to thanking those who have served our country by giving back to organizations like the USO, Special Operations Warrior Foundation and more. The menu consists of everything from Texas-inspired brisket and slow smoked pulled pork to Maggie's Mac-N-Cheese (made from scratch!) and baked beans with brisket.

Texas Roadhouse in Bensalem will serve up "Texas Sized Combos" of BBQ roasted chicken, Ft. Worth ribeye and more! The award-winning, slow-cooked "Fall-Off-The-Bone" ribs are a must, whether you are in the mood for a half slab or full slab! Bring the kids along for a Ranger Meal Rib Basket, and choose from tasty sides like mashed potatoes and buttered corn.

For grill masters, Bucks has plenty of options to take barbecuing into your own hands. Grab a spot near the Delaware riverfront at Neshaminy State Park and enjoy the beautiful view while you cook. The park has three picnic pavilions that can be reserved for a fee. Other locations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You don’t have to stay confined to the shoreline! Neshaminy also has boat launch ramps to enjoy your meal on the water. Don’t leave your furry friends out of the fun; pets are welcome as well as long as they are leashed.

Playwicki Park is another great location to enjoy a summer afternoon BBQ. Have a catch at their baseball field or shoot some hoops on the basketball courts before devouring a delicious home-cooked meal. Located along the Neshaminy Creek, Playwicki has 33 acres to explore and several picnic locations with grills available to the public.
