Gathering Personal Statistics

By
Home Stager with Prudential Ambassador / Ross Designs, LLC

I am often asked when recruiting new agent partners about what statistics I can offer about the success rates of Home Staging. I refuse to quote what few national statistics I have come across as I do not know exactly how they are gathered and they definitely do not apply to my local market.

It is very difficult to gather an individual Stager's statistics that would encompass all of the homes they had Staged. However, I have one statistic that I am proud to share and it is an easy one for any Stager with more than a couple of year's experience to gather:

"Since Staging my listings with Ross Designs, my average time on the market for the same number of homes listed and the same average listing price, was reduced by 42%!" - David Matney, Alliance Real Estate

David and I were chatting in his office one day and he wondered how Staging had affected his DOM's. He pulled up his numbers comparing the current year to the previous one, comparing the same months of both years and the same average asking price.

I would encourage other Stagers to ask one of their main agent partners to do the same comparison; it certainly solidifies the importance of Staging with the agent and is a great testimonial to share with recruits.

I look forward to hearing additional ideas you other brilliant Stagers have about statistics.

Overall I believe that staging, along with internet marketing, will definitely pick up the market. Agents have to think out of the box.

My first staging job sold in one week, after being on the market for six months vacant and brand new.  You can bet I use that when I'm talking to other realtors!  They don't all go that quickly, but it's a great idea to keep tract of our own statistics AND ask our realtors.

Thanks for the thought.

Thanks for the great tip Tori,  I believe RESA also has an ongoing survey through their website

Dennis - in any competitive market thinking outside the box is what will really get attention and results!

Beth - great story!  I hope you share that one often.  I have had similar experiences and I make sure that a before and after photo set of each of those dramatic stories is in my presentation so that I have an easy excuse to talk about it with potential new clients.

Karen -- thank you for including that link!  That form looks very high tech and I will have to get more involved in using that.  I think the only issue I have with is is the very last line under the description of "Select Staging"; it seems a little leading or opinion-based for a factual form.

Ronelle - I will have to check out the RESA folks to see what I can learn ...

You are right, the only thing you can do with certainty is to quote  your own data.  Until RESA gets it all compiled I guess.

I agree that the national stats don't really speak to each area.  I also know that I need to do some tracking of my own information!

This is something I've got to do, but just haven't found the time.  I have them in my head, and know my average, I guess that's a start.
