This coming August, you can join in a family-friendly event in celebration of Hawaii’s precious hula dance during the annual Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival.
Every year this delightful event is put on by the Farden Ohana, Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club and the Lahaina Town Action Committee as an ode to the late Kumu Hula Emma Farden Sharpe of Lahaina. As a highly respected Kumu Hula on Maui, Emma Kapiolani Farden Sharpe or “Aunty Emma” is known for her help in perpetuating the dance for the island’s youth along with her dedication to hula and Hawaiian culture in general.
