CHI is One of Bend's Best Asian Restaurants
When it comes to Asian cuisine, there are so many outstanding options to choose from in Central Oregon. However, there is one stop that we keep going back to time and time again. CHI Chinese & Sushi Bar in Downtown Bend is a "must try" restaurant for every Central Oregon foodie. This location was once upon a time the old Boondocks location and then Liquid Lounge. Unfortunately neither bar was successful, but after a nice remodel, CHI opened and we are so glad they did.
On this particular visit, we decided to lean more on the sushi side, but threw in a bit of Chinese cuisine as well. Our appetizers consisted of the dumpling tower and pan seared potstickers. Both were outstanding in their own right. The dumpling tower was a perfect appetizer to share with two pillowy soft dumplings per bamboo steamer, each layer a different flavor. From vegetarian to shrimp to pork, each dumpling had its own unique taste that was perfectly balanced and made you wish there were more. The potstickers were the exact texture and flavor profile a potsticker lover would want. Needless to say the third potsticker in this dish was very much fought over in our dinner for two. 
Our favorite part of visiting CHI is always the sushi. This visit we ordered three rolls and a couple different types of sashimi. Our personal favorites for sashimi are the sake (salmon) and the hamachi (yellowtail). The freshness and light flavors of these fish make for a fabulous experience. We also love to mix up our options while eating here so this time for sushi rolls we went with the UofO roll, the Kiss of Wu Tang roll, and the Rainbow Roll. Each roll was delicious and we highly suggest trying these or any of the others for an outstanding sushi experience.
To finish off the night, we ordered an extremely tempting offering of bread pudding. This was like no bread pudding we had ever tried though. Served A La Mode and tasting more like a bread pudding/coffee cake hybrid, this bread pudding was so delectably sweet and was the perfect portion to share. What really topped off the evening was a wonderful chocolate martini. All I can say about that drink was "Yum".
For all the foodies out there, CHI is a must! There is a reason we keep going back. We are giving CHI 5's across the board for ambiance, service and food!
