The West Chester Historical and Architectural Review Board will be sponsoring the kick off tour for Chester County's 14th Annual Summer Town Tours and Village Walks Program on Thursday, June 12th at 6:00 pm. The tour is free, but registration is required (610-918-7348). Meet at the Rustic Shed in Everhart Park (Brandywine & Union Streets). Refreshments will be served by the Southwest Association of Neighbors at the end of the tour. Parking is located at Hillsdale Elementary School, 725 West Market Street.
The tour will explore the neighborhood that is tucked around Everhart Park in the southwest quadrant of the borough. This neighborhood includes part of the oldest residential development in West Chester and the second oldest park in the borough. The Everhart Park neighborhood was developed by a succession of prominent real estate speculators, contractors and developers. Consequently, a legacy of buildings constructed between 1830 and 1950 surrounds the park.
