Real Estate Agents, Brokers, Appraisers, Home Inspectors and other real estate professionals interact with new people just about every day. All of these people are likely to have a special cause that is near and dear to their hearts. Did you know that April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month? You can be sure that many, if not all, of your clients (or potential clients) are likely to know someone personally or know of a family living with autism.
Perhaps this April your office and co-workers can get a little creative and show some extra support for those living with autism.
In 2017 my wife Tracy Greco and I created the New Rochelle Police Autism Patch Challenge (or #AutismPatchChallenge) in honor of our autistic son Christopher. To date over 500 first responder agencies throughout the United States have participated and we have estimated that over $1,000,000 has been raised by local first responders and donated locally to organizations that assist autistic children and adults.
This April, consider creating a partnership between your local police/fire department by participating in the #AutismPatchChallenge or other type of awareness campaign (such as creating Emergency Autism Sensory Kits for your police and fire departments).
The Autism Patch Challenge has some specific goals, which include -
- Create an agency autism awareness police patch (to display on vehicles and/or uniforms)
- Review, improve or implement new autism training protocols to first responders
- Fundraise and donate the proceeds to local programs benefiting autistic people
Perhaps a great way to support your local community is to partner with local first responders and sell these police patches (or t-shirts, etc) from your office. Get Creative, attract new clients and support your community. But you should act fast as April is fast approaching.
