Sign Of The Times....

This fourth of July weekend is not shaping up to be that spectacular as of this morning.  First let me back up....my husband has had a Hotmail email account for 5 years without any problem. Monday morning that changed when someone remotely changed the password on his account so he can no longer access it.  They also changed the language to Arabic so that he cannot read the security question which has also been changed.   After spending 2 days trying to contact someone to fix this at Hotmail I was told there is no phone support and that I will have to do the online tech-support thing - you know - where you send a "help me" email to somewhere far far away, never to be heard from again.  It gets better though.....

Yesterday my husband calls me while I'm sitting an open house and says to check out the 3 websites he has.  One had Anti-American statements all over it, in huge text...the next was entirely in some foreign language...and the third was just gone.  Sooooo  I'm thinking there was some Go Daddy information in his email account giving them free range to do that too.   The worst thing about all this is that you cannot report it to anyone.  Hotmail has no support, Go Daddy was able to shut down our sites luckily, and the local police have yet to return my call.

When it rains it pours so to speak....my husband went to Raleigh overnight for business and someone busted out the side window of his truck and stole his wallet, luggage, new Windows Phone, and his entire stereo system (custom).  So I spent this morning canceling all our credit cards......they tried to buy gas with the credit cards (go figure) so now we have to complete all the fraud paperwork too.  I feel so bad for my husband right now...he parked in one of the few security camera blind spots at the hotel.   Even more ironic he does security camera work for a living.

If you have one of these web-based email accounts beware....or at least check out the tech support before you decide to use this for your business.  We had not installed any new software or downloaded anything new recently and this happened to us.  We are always careful not to open an emails if we are not sure of the source.  It just goes to show how desperate some people are....and its really sad.

That really stinks! I have had stretches like that and it makes you feel sick to your stomach. I am sure many people that read this will thank you for the insight on the email. For a lot more security with your mail at a low cost, $8-20 per user monthly, take a look at www.mailstreet.com . I do not work for them...I do have my main email running through them though and have had no issues. If I do have tech questions or computer problems with my email they are always very helpful. Let me know if you give them a try. I hope that your weekend gets better and everything works out.

Well the good news is that these things generally come in three's.  The hotmail, websites, and truck break in is indeed a run of bad luck, but it should be over now.

Just spoke with my husband now that he has calmed down a little...the drivers side window was busted out and they missed the first time with the rock and hit the side of his truck (a brand new 08 Silverado we just got 2 months ago).  They also messed up his dashboard and door panels.  Thanks for the comments and well wishes.
