A Quiet Place To Meditate, Think, Ponder, and Pray, Do You Have One?

By

When ever I have had a stressful day it is always nice to retreat to my special place and think about life, family, work, or whatever. If the problems have been coming at me like a hoard of insects,

and I am spinning my wheels,  then I go to that special place to relax and clear my head.

For some folks that place may be their media room in front of the big screen with the state of the art surround sound. For others it may be their local gym strapped to a top of the line treadmill. For others it may be at the end of a fishing pole or the seat of a Harley.

For me the special place  is a 30 minute walk in one of the meadows in our backyard. In that brief thirty minutes it seems, by observing God's beauty in nature, all my troubles seem so insignificant and everything seems right with the world for just a little while.

I know that God made these great things, that their beauty was placed here for his pleasure and ours.

And I also know that there are problems lurking back at the office.... just waiting to be delt with when I leave my quiet place.

That little 30 minute retreat makes those problems seem less of a problem. Do you have a special place to go to re-group and think about your world?

Have a prosperous week!

Trey,

Thanks for the post. I agree with Marchel, my quiet time begins in the morning with inspirational reading, it sets the tone and keeps me on an even plane.

Hey Trey!

Nothing compares to a bent pole with a big bass tugging on the other end!  I was so bad about fishing before kids came along, I used to dream about it and wake up winding on a reel!

Sounds silly but sometimes I just like to sit alone in a new construction!  The thought that one day this will be someones home and the memories that will come.......It makes everything else go away for a brief moment.

Trey, thanks for the post.  Indeed, on those rare mornings when I beat the kids to waking up, I love to grab a cup of strong coffee and dive into God's word.  Otherwise it's maddening trying to get a few minutes of solace in Christ before the day ends.

Great pics, especially the spider shadow (banana spider, I think). :)

My quiet place is a ride in the country with the tip down with the wind blowing my hair.

Trey, I'm glad those bugs in the first picture was not part of your get away to relax.  Lately, my relaxation has coming from while watering my flowers early morning in the morning.   Great pictures.

Trey:  For a wedding gift, I asked my husband for a outdoor loveseat "slider".  It's got that swinging back and forth motion without needing the rope or chain to hang it.  Anyway, that was over two years ago, and it is my favorite place to go.  We have a lovely, private covered front porch that looks down into a wooded watershed area.  Anytime of year, I can look out and observe wildlife.  In the fall and winter, I see more deer.  In the summer, blue heron and geese.  Evenings: bunnies.  But sitting out there and rocking really eases my nerves.

I like to take my quiet time at the end of the day. To just reflect on the day and fellowship with the Lord.

How's it going?  I have a 30 minute commute so I do  lot of reflecting then, but it is hard to relax when driving.

Linda

We build and sell new homes and I find myself doing the same thing.

Trey...

The picture of the spider is extraordinary!  I love it, you should send that to someone.  I have a little "meditation garden" beside my lake house under some giant post oak trees.  It's one of my favorite places, but I'm like you anywhere outdoors with nature makes me feel good.  L

We didn't make it to the lake on the 4th. I sent a response to your facebook email and it bounced ...sorry.    Anyway the Lake is a great place to go and be at peace also. Just wish we could get up there more!

Carl

I will read it for sure!

Pam

I like to jump in our Mustang from time to time but the way we drive it I can't relax.... ;-)

Sondra

I know about watering gardens...it can be hypnotic!  Your photos are great too! My wife is really a good photographer. I still have trouble with lighting.

Trey ~ I took a trip to Key West and went out about 15miles at night on the boat. Wow, all those stars that you can't see in the city. And I saw five shooting stars. What a time of prayer and dreaming about the good things of God. Dreams come from God and it was in that state that He spoke to my heart about the future.

I live in the Charlottesville, Va so it is easy to surround yourself in the beauty of nature here.  I have taken up walking/running thru several of the numerous nature trails we have here.  The troubles of the day seem to go away with the sound of the rushing river.  It is really amazing the difference it makes in my day.

I usually beat everyone but the staff there each day and that is a good time to think and pray.
