Is now the time to be 'FSBO' in Maryland?

As I drive around in Montgomery County, Maryland I still see a significant amount of For Sale by Owner signs.  In fact they are all over Greater Silver Spring, Chevy Chase, Rockville, Gaithersburg and other areas of my expertise. 

Though, the market is not at its greatest right now, it still isn't the worst.  From the late 1990's to 2005 the market was booming, we saw things that amazed anyone involved in the real estate industry.  Some folks say that we have hit rock bottom, and the market is going to pick back up, but is that true?  The true answer is, the market hasn't hit rock bottom until its gone back up again.

There are different reasons why people have the necessity to sell.  Some have a contingent contract or actually outright purchased another house.  Others have found a job in another area or state, and others are simply downgrading or upgrading.  Whatever reason you are moving, please keep in mind that a Realtor can help you make sound decisions and help negotiate in your best interest.  

There is an untrue myth, from my personal opinion, that selling For Sale by Owner will save you money.  In some cases when the purchaser for your home is known immediately, it may indeed save you money.  However, in most cases the buyer is out there and may not be seeing the beautiful home that you have to offer.
