What I Think ActiveRain is All About The thing that I love so much about ActiveRain is that it is such a fast growing network of Realtors and real estate professionals! As a former SEO Specialist, I can see the "future success" of ActiveRain by looking at their current rankings of the site/blogs/etc. and by how their pages are set up. So, as I was browsing the internet for real estate info, I saw ActiveRain and was instantly intrigued... "ActiveRain has really got their act together... I think I want to get involved in this while it is still in it's early stages" And so it began... I set up a profile. I wrote a blog. And then I learned about a little thing called Points.... It was then that I became an AR addict! You see, it isn't just competition of having more points than the others in your area - it is the fact that AR opens so many doors to marketing your brand, your services, your ideas, and your listings to the public! Google loves ActiveRain, it seems... and exposure on Google = phone calls, leads, clients, and in turn, closings! So, I am on a quest for points. I have already posted my "maximum" blogs for the week (that earns me points), but here is what's even better.... I kept on blogging. I think that is what ActiveRain is all about - not just blogging for points, but really and sincerely contributing to the community as a whole. And that is exactly what I am committed to do, and what I encourage you all to do! I plan to offer up any and all of my knowledge from my background and previous experiences to help others on this site, and hopefully I will be able to give back some of what I have learn over the past few days (which is A TON!) Thanks to all of you for your warm welcomes and priceless advice/ideas/blogs! It has been a wonderful couple of weeks on AR and I look forward to contributing to this excellent online community and learning more and more!

Contribution is the key, I agree. Without contribution, and honest contribution at that, our content becomes insincere. Great post!
Justin & Kate,
Don't get hung up on the points, really that is not what it is about. In the beginning I, too, was all about points. But......after being here over 1 year what I have learned is for me:
1. It's about promoting and growing my business, this comes from posting information helpful for clients and potential clients.
2. It is also about building relationship with other real estate professionals all over the country--this is done by contributing to the AR community through blogs that are helpful to members and commenting on each other's blogs.
Good luck fellow Tar Heels. Feel free to email me anytime.
Points are ok, if that`s what you wish to acomplish.
The "True" purpose of blogging is the business aspect it offers on a very board base..
I'm not sure everyone actually read my blog! The whole point of the blog is to communicate my appreciation for AR, and to explain all the benefits of actually contributing to the AR community - not for points, but for the sole benefit of the community!
Really like this blopg and it really speaks to the point. This is why I joined and have been happy every day since
Justin and Katie,
Welcome to Active Rain. This is a great post well written and a great tribute to Active Rain.....
Justin-the question is who is your audience? If you are blogging about SEO then your audience isn't paying clients, unless you are selling SEO services to other agents. If your goal is fill your pipeline with prospective buyers and seller then writing about your area, the neighborhood and everything else to do and see in Hickory NC then you need to consider switching your focus. There is no doubt a lot of information on this network for which we are all greatful. I personally have generated referals and a great deal of business this year from my blogging efforts. That is my goal and what I want Google to recognize me for. Good luck!
Welcome! I'm still trying to discover all the benefits offered here. I appreciate your prospective from an SEO background. Enjoy as much as I do.
Guys, great looking AR blog. I too love to blog as it is REALLY important to bring quality information to our target audience. Keep up the great work.
Cheers,
