I am working from home today with CNBC on my TV in the background, and it seems every other segment is about either the housing "bubble" or sub prime mortgage companies collapsing. Today, I heard a new term called alt-A loans or something, which I guess describes a lot of the stated income and asset programs for people with good credit.
I am intrigued by all of this real estate talk on a business channel, and it just strikes me about how important my job is to my clients. With all of this press, and much of it horrible, what is a consumer to think? While I certainly advise each client to discuss their financial health with the people they trust so they can make the best decision, ultimately, they are relying on me for advice regarding what to offer on a home, or what to list their home for. So, I wonder....what will the spring bring?
In earlier blogs, you have seen me write about slowly rising inventory in my market, and I am curious to see if the buying activity increases stride for stride, or if we will start adding to that inventory and absorption rate again. If I knew the answer to that, I would open a shop for reading palms. Just when I think I "know" what the market is going to do, thats when I know I need to take a step back and just focus on my clients' best interest AT THAT MOMENT even more, instead of trying to predict the future.
