After many years in real estate, I have seen and worked in many a different variety. From the one's that were fast paced, high energy, and even sometimes offices that seemed to be divided into neighborhoods if you will.
Of course these were the types that were ever changing, due to a regular flow of incoming agents and outgoing ones for a variety of reasons.
But back then, what did I care. I was focused on being productive and it didn't really matter "where" I worked, as I was in business for myself and I was determined to succeed "on my own!" I was determined not to allow any ancillary obstacles get in my way.
At my present office as Broker I along with my staff decided from day one to attempt to provide an environment that most would like and make their own. Now I will admit that I may go to the extremes once in awhile. Let me explain.
I am sometimes teased for having holiday decorations up too early. Which ones? Well, all of them of course. In addition, almost daily you will find a selection of snacks, cokes, candy, donuts to munch on, whether you are here for a weekly meeting, doing phone time, or just stopped by to say hello.
Oh, I almost forgot. Our office loves to take "Pot Luck" to a whole new level. Even if I do say so myself, our semi-planned luncheons resemble some the best commercial buffets in the Metroplex.
Now the above is not to be confused by any means with a lack of focus, efforts, or seriousness in running a business. With the obstacles of a "challenging market", and a media presence that doesn't exactly fall into the category of "encouragement", we have made the conscience decision to try and make this "fun", where we can.
Yes, call me an idealist if you will. But I am still of the belief that you can work hard, you can be productive, you can learn to set goals, and achieve them, and you can enjoy yourself while doing it.
So, if you are ever in the neighborhood, stop by and see us. If while you are here you happen to hear the "ship's bell", it just means that another new contract or listing was just turned in for processing. Not to be alarmed.
Have fun and good selling!
