We all know about Location, Location, Location and its role in the sale and purchase of real estate...

But in this trying real estate market, it is more challenging to find the location of a qualified and motivated buyer, than it is to figure out the perfect location to buy a home...in fact, I'm seeing people opt for second and third choices when it comes to location, especially if it means acquiring a home at a 'great price' in a less desirable location!

What is this telling us?

For one thing, everyone is feeling the 'money crunch'...it manifests itself in different ways to different families...some families are being forced to move...others are in danger of foreclosure or job loss or loss or decrease of income...others are attempting to consolidate and cut budgets...even to the extent that necessities are involved---food, clothing, and certainly luxury items such as Christmas and birthday gifts, anniversary jewelry and celebrations...still others are taking on additional work, either part time or full time...

These are the 'signs of the times'...and not promising signs...

But is there anything good we can take out of this rotten real estate market? Is there any lessons we can glean from this present day economic crunch?

Yes, there are some good things we can learn!

First, we need to be willing to change...not change for the sake of change, but calculated and reasonable change...just like you can't ask a cat to become a dog, or an oak tree to become a maple tree, or a rose to drop its thorns and become a daffodil, so must all change make sense and be reasonable...

Second, we need to realize that if we're not improving in some way, we're regressing...

And third, this brings us to the key to make it all work!

Consistency, consistency, consistency!

I used to refer to people who did not seem to have much consistency in either life or business as 'flakes'...perhaps because as soon as some moisture hit them they became soggy...you know, like corn flakes and milk...

Sports, in fact, which, as a country, we are totally absorbed in, can teach us many valuable life lessons about consistency...unless and until results are repeatable, we are inconsistent!!!

I hear many war stories, both good and bad, about people's experiences with real estate agents, lenders, and other real estate service providers...being at the closing end of a hopefully successful real estate transaction, you get to hear a lot...and in over 37 years, believe me, I could write a book...in fact, that's the main reason I blog...instead of book writing, I try to pass on to my friends, the consumers, of which I am one myself (and so is everyone else), the benefits I have learned throughout my real estate industry years, so that each family may have the capacity to make sound, economical, and dependable decisions when it comes to a real estate purchase or sale!

On this blog, hopefully you will find some solace, straight up transparency, and down to earth common sense...so you will be enabled to make such life changing decisions!

And to conclude...I have been blogging now for a little over a year...and the three major things I have learned from blogging???

Consistency! Consistency! Consistency!

We need to do things much the same day in and day out so the people we deal with know what to expect from us and we will gain their trust at the same time!

Fran

Without consistency ( in a good sense) we are sitting ducks.

Consistency is parallel to persistence.  We need to be both...persistent and consistent.  Thanks F.

Absolutely.  We've had several posts recently about points, points, points.  They all fail to understand that consistency is the key to points, points, points.

Kathy: Yes, as long aa flexibility isn't an excuse for inconsistency!!! LOL

Lenn: Any success I've enjoyed on AR can be attributed to consistency...points are just a 'measuring tool' of sorts for how long a person has been at consistency! :)

Thanks,   Fran

Fran, so true.  That is the buzzword for the day.  I think as realtors, our consistent work and follow-up promotes business and relationships !

Fran, I like it.  Like in golf where you don't need the perfect swing, but a functional swing that repeats itself.  Consistency is key.

Charlie,

But in golf it only takes one great 'inconsistent' shot to get you back!!! LOL, Thanks,   Fran

Can you even imagine if sports figures didn't work everyday if they had a game or not? They would become fat, out of shape and be cut from the team real quick, hmmm that does sound like a lot of real estate agents doesn't it. They quit doing real estate if they don't have a buyer or seller in front of them and they gain weight, their bank account gets empty and they have to quit.

I guess there is something about consistency!

It is hard...but we must keep our focus on the Lord no matter what...and I agree, my friend, that is difficult with so much 'other news' around us! Thanks,   Fran
