Guerilla Marketing

Guerilla marketing evokes an emotional response to gain attention!

Baxter Rose Nose

This picture, for example, is my dog Baxter. It makes people think "awww how cute," but with the right tag line it can make you think about moving out of an apartment, getting a bigger yard, or even the American dream of 2.5 kids and a dog.

Possible tag lines for this photo:

"Need a new woof?"

"Gardening advice?"

"Sprinkler system included!"

It needs to stand out as different in order to be noticed. The text should be concise and to the point and of course include contact information.

Include a "call to action." For example, "call now about special pricing" or "email today for a move in gift." Anything that gets them to contact you before they are distracted by the next shiny object.

Use humor when possible. Be careful to ensure that it is appropriate for your target market.

Hair

The image to the right evokes an entirely different kind of emotional response.

Possible tag lines for this photo:

"Stressed about selling your home?"

"You want HOW much for this great house?"

"Need a stress free Real Estate experience?"

You can see how fun it can be to come up with clever tag lines!

Of course once you have gotten their attention, you mention a few (no more than 5) bullet points of why they should solicit your services.

This kind of "guerilla marketing" is very popular amongst the younger buyers. It seems they need the wow factor to pay more than a few minutes of their multi-tasking attention to it.

Hey Lara,

You said it! We live in a video game, nintendo, wii  world now.  It is hard enough to get someone's attention, then you need to keep their attention, then you need to get them to do something!!

Chris, our dogs know "bad dog" too and they act all guilty. My parents Dalmation used to smile at you with a cheesey grin if you asked him, "who did that?" Too funny.

Lara,

Thanks for the post. It reminds me - we went to Jack in the Box once (of all places) and the guy there at the window told us a riddle and asked us to solve it while we waited for our food. We were in a big line at the drive-thru and he gave us our food. We couldn't figure it out, so we asked him for the answer. He said, you'll just have to come back next time to find out and wouldn't tell us!! Cars are backed up behind us, so we have to go. I wonder how many times he's used that and made it work? Dying of curiousity, we googled it when we got home. But, I'll bet he gets many repeat customers that way. I've remembered all this time and it's in Plano - not even by the house or office!

Thanks! :)

Lara:  It appears that the person with the wild hair-do... has the same hairdresser as I have been going to for years.  Just a little more picking... and a little more spray... and it would look much better.  :)

Those would both make good postcards for mail outs.  Good tips for the younger generation.  And of course an adorable puppy!

Love the photographs... A catchy tag line or a unusual photograph gets you noticed.  One of the most effective print ads for a home builder that I have seen showed two dogs in a car.  I don't remember the tag line but I do remember the photograph and the fact that the ad didn't tell much about the property itself.  Their telephone rang off the hook.  Sometimes it literally pays to think out of the box, try something new and dare to be different.

I like people that think outside the box.  I don't like to read long websites.  I like bullets.

Roland - I'm glad you enjoyed it. The pictures are pretty fun.

Brenda - yes, bullets are better and I'm way out of the box. We are just all pulled so many different directions today that you have to grab their attention with short and sweet.
