What everyone ought to know about Talkability

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Malfi Marketing Solutions ~ for real estate professionals

Usually we're told and taught not to talk about people but I want to give you a reason to have people talking about you and you liking it!

I recently came across a site that mentioned the word talkability and another that talked about Word of Mouth Marketing What are they and how can they help you increase your business?  They both relate to the ease of which a product, person or service can be talked about and recommended

Everyone who is interested in marketing themselves and their services wants positive word of mouth marketing.  Who wouldn't want to generate a buzz about the services they provide their clients?  So having "talkability" means that people are talking about you and the services you provide.

This can lead to: • Referrals • New Clients • Recommendations

Ever hear or come across a product or service that you couldn't wait to tell everyone about?

So how do you go about making this happen for you and the services you provide?

Provide something unique.  Ask yourself - if I was in the process of getting ready to sell my home and was meeting with several agents to determine who I will list with - what would I consider remarkable about this agent's services?  (Would you hire you?)

Turn off that negative, doubting voice of yours - you know the one that that tells you "this will never work" and focus on "what if" this does works.

Think about some of the unique things you can offer in your area that you or no one else is offering right now.

Examples:

  • Offering town tours to clients relocating to your area
  • Home buying seminars
  • Staging consultations
  • Add some of your own ideas

What are you going to do to market these ideas?

I challenge you to tap into that imagination of yours - you know, the part of you that comes up with your creative, witty blog titles.  Think about it, by simply putting some ideas together and possibly using one of them you have gained and increased your chances of being talked about and improving your business and the overall way you approach marketing.

Get others talking about you - generate a buzz.  Remember how valuable your Sphere of Influence can be in helping you generate a buzz - they already know about the services you provide.  Share with them some of the new things you are doing by inviting them to visit your website, your blog or send them a note about a new service asking them if they know someone who could benefit.

Want to share something unique that is working in your market?

How about this one:http://activerain.com/blogsview/660951/A-Different-Kind-of

While this may not be your style, look at the excitement, buzz and talkability this real estate agent has generated.

If this post achieves anything I want it to be that it encourages you to reach outside yourself, the norm and try something new that might just work.  You won't know unless you try.

So do you want to be talked about?  Are you going to try something new?

Feel free to share your thoughts about this post and if it's prompted you to change how you will increase your Word of Mouth Marketing(Talkability.)  (it's ok to keep your idea a secret for now but I do hope it prompts you to write your own blog about your success)

I like the creating a buzz.  I gave a client who just purchased a home one of our pens, she told me she was in target marking things off her list for her new home & a lady near her remarked how effecient she was to which she mentioned "I just bought a house!" the lady mentioned she had been thinking of buying a home also SO what did my client do?  she gave her her pen w/my info on it!  I sent her a ton more.  SHE is creating a buzz for me because I took care of her.  I love it!

Buzz and word of mouth are very important. I like your idea of the town tours for newly relocated buyers. Sounds like a great way to get your name out there!

Anne Marie - I could not agree more.  "Talkability" is one of the most important keys to any business success.  A significant percentage of our business comes from word-of-mouth from previous clients and those in our sphere of influence.  Great point!

Yes, I agree that talkability is very key to success, especially in real estate.  I have friends and family who are hesitant to speak to others about what I do and can't seem to get them to talk to others about my business.  Perhaps they all need some pens with my info on them?

Anne, I really enjoyed reading your blog and I always enjoy it when I come across a blog that includes images.  It makes the material so much more interesting and fun to read.  But, the real reason I'm writing is to tell you this is great advice.  I agree one hundred percent that if we want to get folks talking about us we have to offer something unique.

Troy - I wonder why?  My husband and I love talking about what each of us does and talk about it often.  Perhaps they do need a nudge - give them something fun that has your info on it but is useful.  I had a friend who was giving out the football schedule with their real estate info on it - thought it was very clever.  You should also let them know they can share your info in a very non salesy way - perhaps you should offer them an incentive/reward for their referrals -get them a gift card to their favorite restaurant or store.

Tracy - I agree with you - I do think posts need to have words and pictures to finish the story/message.  So happy you felt the advice was helpful and I agree - provide a service that is worthy of being talked about and you will get recognized by your community.  Hope that's happening for you!
