Who are you eating lunch with?

By
Real Estate Agent with Carolina One Real Estate

Seven days a week we all do it...Eat sometime between 11 and 2pm.  Are you spending that lunch time wisely?  I met with a great friend ,in my sphere, today for coffee and an hour later we were more ready to help each other than ever.  Tomorrow I'm having lunch with another sphere friend.  Wednesday, I'm eating with clients, Thursday, I have a referrals group luncheon...and I need to plan who I'm seeing Friday.  But the bottom line is - I'm out, I'm interacting with people and getting myself on their mind.

Ever buy a red car and then all you see are red cars.  I want to be my sphere's "red car".  I want them to be running into people that may need me but I must be on their minds for them to give my name out.  I enjoy meeting people for a bite or for coffee.  It's not a sales call.  If it were they would stop agreeing to meet.  But I will say something interesting about the market at sometime or I may have something of value to give out.  Our company is having a 25 dollar gas card daily give away.  How easy is that for me to throw out and offer!

Our business is about relationships and I plan on building many and having a solid foundation with the top referrers.

Great blog Laura.......I've been staying in the office for lunch for several weeks now and there are definitely some people I need to call for a lunch "date".

Of course, you're assuming that I have enough money to buy lunch.  Now if I could just get them to pay for it!!!  :-)

I had lunch today with my broker.  He has been in the business for 29 years and is very successful.  He teaches me a lot.

Laura,

Funny you should ask me about "lunch"...My sister (my best friend) and I have been promising to do lunch for quite some time...we don't get out or get together without the kids...and so THAT'S WHO I'll be having my lunch with tomorrow! It's not a client producing connection...but it sure will put me in a better mood and I will feel more connected with family...and I will be better for it in the long run....NOW BACK TO WORK!

Enjoy and laugh til you cry!  I know you aren't meeting your sister to ask her "who do you know" but she is certainly someone that should be helping you gain business :)

Laura,

Great post! We tend to either get complacent or to busy to keep in touch with our sphere and customers and clients. Notice I didn't say past customers and clients. We need to keep these contacts going for future business and referrals.! Thanks for the great post!!

Hey Laura - We call this feeding our "bird-dogs." Bird dogs are people who love us and are always supporting us with tips and referrals. It should be everyone's intentions to take a bird dog out to breakfast (saves money & time) or lunch at least twice a week. Before long, you'll be amazed at how your business increases.

Thanks for sharing and best wishes for a strong 4th quarter 08! Greetings from Paradise.

Our company had it's great yearly tradeshow today.  Great event, lots of booths with good vendors, but the best part was the lunch speaker - Rudy with Trulia!  I kept wishing he would stop talking about what a great site Trulia, Active Rain, Meet-up, and new to me Yelp happen to be for Realtors.

Are you eating at noon or are you learning and/or earning?
