Center Harbor gets its name because, quite simply, it's location. Center Harbor is on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee between Meredith to the west and Moultonboro to the east. The name is also known from it's early settlers and land owners, the Senter's. Today the name Senter is honored with a market place which holds Keepsake Quilting among other shops. Keepsake Quilting is one of the largest quilting suppliers in the world! From it's catalog to their sales which greet bus loads of shoppers, quilting has had a great impact on Center Harbor!

Center Harbor was a landing place for lake steamers and stagecoaches, making it a popular summer resort. Center Harbor was a favorite spot of John Greenleaf Whittier, and the home of Dudley Leavitt, author and publisher of the first Farmers Almanac in 1797. The history of Center Harbor is rich and exciting. Exciting because many of the sights that were active in the 1700's are still around today. Perhaps transformed into restaurants and specialty stores, but here non the less to enjoy for generations to come.

Today, Center Harbor has become a destination to enjoy the lake, golfing and the surrounding mountains.
Center Harbor is a port of call for Winnipesaukee's cruise ship, The Mount Washington. Offering daily cruises as well as dinner/ dance cruises and theme events, the Mount Washinton line of cruise ships delights thousands each year!
