FREE - You can improve our real estate market conditions.   How you asked, well keep reading.

Are you weaving a web of lies or facts?

We all want to improve on the conditions of the market place as we know it.    There is always a way to put a positive spin on any situation.     But, be aware of what YOU say and how YOU say it.

When putting a positive spin on a dismal situation, the spin must be a factual.    If you want credibility and to work more positively,  make sure you're talking about something you know.

Let me explain...     If a client says to me "Oh my, this is a horrible market to sell my home in"   my response is "the market is an opportunity for both buyers and sellers".

"But the value of my home is 20,000 less than it was 2 years ago."

"Yes it is, but the home you want to buy is 40,000 less than it was 2 years ago."  "You couldn't afford to buy this house 2 years ago"

Well you get the picture.     I currently sit on the New Jersey Association of Realtors Public Relations committee and I have to say I hear the say thing over and over.   We hired a Public Relations firm and did focus groups to just tell me what I already knew.

It starts with US the agents.   The public is listening to US.  All of US.   You must change your mindset when speaking to the public about the real estate market.   I don't care where you are licensed, as a professional in this industry it's imperative that you find something positive to speak about.

What's that old saying ... "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all"

Truer words couldn't apply to our business right NOW.

Most agents numbers are down, commissions are down and we are working 10 times harder to get then same deals closed.   Our clients do NOT need to know this.    A "poor me" attitude is not going to get the job done.   Why would you want to add more fuel to an already out of control fire??

Wake up people we have something very valuable to contribute here and we are not seizing the opportunity!!

There is a positive to be found out there in every market place.   Spend some time finding it, its essential to ALL of our jobs.    Its essential to our housing market.

Its all how you spin it............     Spin facts not fiction.

Go ahead I dare you to be positive!!

Hi Antoinette, You made excellent points here. I had a listing appointment today and had to let them know their property was 25K OVERPRICED based on some very good comps in their immediate neighborhood. It had been on the market for 168 days with only 3 showings in that time. The bright side? NOW they can get it SOLD! (After a bit of staging, of course!)

Hi Debi, thanks for commenting.  This is actually NOT my blog post but a REBLOG from Desiree Daniels.  Anyone who's allowed the "reblog" flag on their entry is essentially giving permission for the active rain community to repost the entry on their own blog.  This was my first "reblog" but will happily do it again after reading something that is exceptionally worthwhile.

Those sellers were fortunate to have you come by with an accurate pricing scenario.  Hope you get it sold for them!  And yes, definitely staging is SO important!

Pam, I just had a conversation with open house visitors that left them commenting "so the sky isn't really falling..."  As challenging as conditions are right now, the fact remains that there are great opportunities for buyers and sellers alike.  Thanks for commenting Pam!

Antoinette, Love the new photo! Very flattering! I finally did a new one a few months ago - I'd had the old one for 3 years!

Hey Debi!  We're not so bad...how about the agents with 20 year old photos?  No exaggeration...thanks for the compliment...my jury is still out.
