The cost of luxury homes is 30% below comparative metropolitan areas. The area is highly resistant to the negative economic factors affecting the rest of the country, (now further stimulated by the Barnett Shale oil and gas boom), with huge companies being based here and more coming every year. Last year Texas becomes only second to Florida as the Mecca for retirement. Since house prices, because of the land availability, have only increased by around 5% a year, there is no price "bubble" to be burst here.
