SEO I need a bit of help?

By
Mortgage and Lending with Edward Moloney Loan Officer GMH Mortgage Services

Hello all. I have been an active member of active rain for about 90 days. The reason I joined was to learn from others about the market and what is going on in their business. I have always believed that we can all learn from others. I then started getting a bit more active. I started blogging and my main focus was to blog about things that I found helpfull or stressfull or even educational that related to the business. Also I blogged on the mental approach and positive gifts this industry gives us all. I have enjoyed active rain a great deal.

I have used the referral tool. Since all my business is referral and I only cover MA. I thought it would be a great place to find a professional in another state so that when my clients refer me relatives in CA then I would have someone to service them. This has been a great tool and it has brought value to my practice and relationships with my clients.

Now I must be honest. I am bit lost on the SEO and other stuff. I am sure that others use active rain as a way to have a bigger presence on the web. This way clients and others find them when using google or yahoo. I know I am missing the bigger picture on this so that is why I am doing this post. Enlighten me on why you are a member of active rain and what benefits your getting from it. In the end the education will be apprecaited by me.

Bill, I am expecting some comments from you. Bill is number 1 in MA in points not that I am sure what that realy means as far as value for him. This is why I ask the question. I am ranked around 26 in MA and have only been doing this 90 or so days in an active fashion and for the reasons I listed above.

Take care and thanks for educatiing the newer guy.

Hi Edward.  Don't put too much pressure on yourself.  It all comes with time.  I am just starting to scratch the surface (and moving up the google rankings).

Good luck,

Ken

Edward,

I, like you, am fairly lost on the SEO stuff, but I've learned a huge amount about my profession in general, and have developed some nice relationships across the country, as a result of my participation for only a few months.  And, I'm convinced that over time and with persistence, I'll also learn enough to become effective with SEO as well.  AR is a valuable multi-faceted tool, and I intend to keep using it.

Edward - there are quite a few posts on AR about SEO. You can use the search feature on the top menu bar and do a search.  You might also try the Channels section on the main page and see what you find there. I also have a couple posts you can refer to on my profile if interested.  You can click on my name below to review those anytime.  Good luck to you in all your endeavors and efforts here.  :-)

Hi Ed - Seo is very important for anyone that wishes to increase their business online. I am sure that you would not be complaining if you started to recieve some business from your blogging. There are many things you can do when it comes to SEO. I have blogged about many things with SEO to help others. Go back to some of my older posts and take a look...I am sure you will be able to glean a few good tips.

I have already told you a real simple one - If you look over on the right hand side of this page there is a button that says links. Add your website! Add your website to the bottom of your posts. This creates what is called an "inbound" link. Along with content, the quality of the inbound links that point to your site are major considerations in the search engines.

As a newcomer myself, I too would like to see quick results, but realize that it takes time. I have noticed some improvement since joining AR. If your website and your blogs contain useful information, you'll move up with time. I'm sure there are some tricks I could learn, and I keep looking, searching the web, reading other's blogs, and working on my content. Good luck.

Edward, I have been doing my own SEO for years now and it is an ongoing learning process.  The person who helped me the most with SEO here in the rain was Karen George.  Karen recently passed away from cancer but her blog lives on.  Herhusband is also planning on continuing her blog.  I would recommend reading it from the start; you will learn a wealth of information.

Ed the link at the bottom of your post is not active. You need to use the chain that is at the top of the comment box. You should be able to click the link to go right to your website:)

Ed - I just logged in as you and the link tool works ok, maybe it's your browser.  You can put in a ticket or contact me directly via email if you need any additional help or want me to fix it.  I'll probably be the one that will get your AR ticket anyway. :-)  Let me know. Brad@ActiveRain.com
