Are You Promoting Your Blog?

I don't know about you, but I participate in several forums when I get some free time.  I'm actively involved in the equestrian community in VA and often read the Chronicle Forums or The Dressage and Eventing Forums...in addition I also frequent WWW.Sitepoint.com which has a great forum and includes blogging as one of their discussions.

If you participate in any community forums, sports forums or hobbies, these are great avenues to promote your blog.  Each of these forums has a place for your URL and a signature line.  Its something I'm going back and updating now...I don't know how many times, I've run across a buyer or someone listing their home who starts talking on these forums...and I've found at least one client that way.

Are you promoting your blog in new and interesting ways?  I realize everyone is probably aware that they can now post to Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn...but what other avenues are you promoting your blog?

Hi Sonja,  I have added a link to my blog on my email signature.  I also added it to the automated listing notifications that go out to my buyers from our MLS.

Sonja, thanks for the tip on the site.  I've book marked to take a look at it.  So many good ideas to implement!

I use my ActiveRain blog to support my other marketing methods, which are tried, true, and old-fashioned, so I'm the only one doing them because everyone else is fighting to be #1 on the Internet, leaving me with a very nice niche market that is easy to market to and has me busy, busy, busy.

I use my blog link on my web site and listing sites.  It's a good way to get traffic to your web site and link back as often as possible.

I am totally guilty of not promoting my blog! I have not yet set up my outside blog to link with the AR one either.  Guess I had better get busy.

Hey, Sonja. I'm still a little old fashioned mainly because I like the tried and true methods depending on who my Client is. The main reason why so many people don't like them is because their co-workers say, "Oh, that doesn't work anymore" or they say "I tried that once. It didn't work."

Interestingly, I've always -- always, always, always -- found that it "doesn't work anymore" because they quit doing it persistently and consistently. It's the same problem many people here at ActiveRain have -- they quit blogging persistently and consistently. Does it take effort? Absolutely. I learned good old fashioned work ethics from my wise old grandmother, though, and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty making a livelihood.

Those who say "I tried that once. It didn't work" fall into the same category of not doing "that" persistently and consistently. Trying it "once" is not going to provide for long-term success.

What he said. (Thanks Russel)

I was one who didn't know what blogging was and how it could help me.  In less than 2 months with consistent blogging, I've moved from page 10 to page 2 on Goggle with certain tag words.  I will have to look for other blogginf sites as well.  Thanks Sonja for and extra reminder!

Hi Sonja, I try to promote my blog every which way I can.  I am in the process of constructing different blogs (by theme) in AR and will provide links to those on my web site.

Promoting the blogs is definitely important!  Otherwise, no one will ever see all of that great information you write!  I'd love to hear where other people are promoting their blogs other than Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

Integrity, Experience, Enthusiasm!

We have several city websites, where I join in the discussions. Frederick.com allows anyone to write an article about local interests, so I wrote one about: The Mortgage Meltdown: A Realtor's Perspective, of course, linking back to my blog.  The web manager thought my post was relevant to more than just Frederick readers, so he syndicated it on all 28 of their city websites.

When you check your local sites and forums, check to see which ones are developed by a larger site developer with websites for multiple areas.  Another good site is a travel site.
