The "Holiday Mail for Heroes" campaign is sponsored by the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes.

The idea is for all the "heroes" to receive a card for the holidays. The cards will be sent to veterans, service members and their families.

Here are the rules for sending the cards:

Must be postmarked by Wednesday, December 10, 2008.

Limit the number of cards submitted by any one person to 25 or 50 from any one group. Larger quantities, need to be bundled and placed in large mailing envelope. Individual envelope or postage. not required.

Sign all cards.

Use generic salutations like "Dear Service Member."

Please send just cards to ensure quick review process.

Do not include email or home addresses on the cards.

Do not include inserts of any kind, especially no photos, items will be removed during the reviewing process.

Received cards may be used in publicity efforts for the program, including broadcast appearances, print and/or on-line mediums.

The goal is to send one million cards to spread some holiday cheer.
