Octagon on Roosevelt Island

Landlords are starting to offer more amenities to keep tenants in their rental buildings. Manhattan Skyline Management is putting in a concierge service in all of its buildings. At the Octagon on Roosevelt Island, owned by developer Bruce Becker, residents are now being offered discounts at the on-site day care center, which is also being renovated. Water taxis are also in the works for the development. "We want to keep the buildings full and we want to be prudent," Becker said.

Bravo. These are smart landlords. It really is all about value in the current market, on the high end, low end and everywhere in-between.

Wow have not heard this before.  I guess it depends on the tenants too.  If tenants are good and have pride in where they live it is great otherwise not so good

This happens frequently in New York City. Especially when a new project is underway or opens. Giving concessions on rent or paying brokers to bring clients is common.

However, the idea has increased in the last few months. Looks like owners and landlords are struggling to keep tenants due to the current market condition's.
