Prices were down, so were sales for 3rd Q in Hanover

By

3rd Q stats show that sales in Hanover for single family homes were down to 28 compared to same quarter of '07 with 38 sales.  The average sales price of homes was also down this year, to $471,000 compared to $541,000 in '07.  Days on market were elevated this year to an average of 178, from 163 same Q last year.  So the opportunities are there for buyers, if they are ready!  Sellers have gotten the word that to sell, they have to lower their expectations, and to listen carefully to all interested buyers.

Hi Betsey...

We at FJ Painting are new to the activerain site and just read your blog abouth this bleak statistic...

Understandably, sellers do haveto lower their expectations but SHOULD do everything that they can to SELL. I cannot understand why more people paint the interiors of their home prior to their open houses - My girlfriend's Aunt (who lives in Hanover) and is looking to buy another home for investment purposes has gone to places all over the South Shore that from the outside look fine - but HOLY MOLEY once you enter it's horrendous...

Maybe if more sellers took the approach of "YOU GOTTA SPEND A LITTLE TO MAKE A LOT" it would benefit them!

Just a thought...
