Fredericksburg Virginia - its quaint streets

By

Fredericksburg Virginia, an historic city located 50 miles south of Washington DC and 50 miles north of Richmond Virginia,  appeals to many tourists who come to the area to visit the many Civil War battlefields within a short driving distance from the city.

There are many quaint streets within the city.  Some are within the historic district and others are not.  Among them that is not is Littlepage Street

Fredericksbur Virginia - Littlepage Street

Like many small towns and citys, Fredericksburg has a way of defining certain areas based on their location.

Until a few years ago the University of Mary Washington was known as Mary Washington College.  Consequently, the area where we find Littlpage Street is known as "Below the College".  Yes, you could bet there is an "Above the College" area and you would be 100% correct!

The architecture of homes along Littlepage street varies; here are some examples.

Ed - I have not visited this area I have been to Williamsburg, but I am sure you get lots of tourist because of the history.

The houses seem to be similar to some in parts of my market.

Jennifer - Yes we do.  I am quite familiar with the area in which you work.  My parents lived in Peekskill for many years; as a matter of fact, my dad was born there (I was too) and died there.  There are many similarities between the two areas; you are along the Hudson and we are along the Rappahannock.

Danny - As far as I know there is not any historic significance to Littlepage that dates to the Civil War.  It is mentioned in several accounts of the battles fought here.  As you can tell by the name, Fredericskburg has a rich German heritage.

Danny - Yes, I knew about the Texas city.  Search engine competition from brokers there.  Yours was founded by Germans and ours by English.  Got name from some English prince name Frederick.  Had no idea that Nimitz was from there.  You are a font of knowledge my friend.
