With the economy in the tank and the housing market crashing like a stone where can investors turn for the kind of returns experienced in the "Good Old Days" of real estate. Back then, almost anyone, even those who had to borrow to invest (CRAZY), could make a buck.
With tens of thousands of homes all across the country sitting vacant and almost no one able to afford them, there's a huge opportunity for even the least experienced investors to make a great return on their money.
The one thing that didn't go away is the people. People still need a place to live and have no choice but to pay something for that privilege or sleep on the street. Where there's a need there's an opportunity. Fill the need and you can make money from the opportunity.
Unfortunately, there have been a plethora of unscrupulous operators preying on the weak and uneducated. They've promoted themselves as being able to take a burned out shell and get someone to buy it with just a sign in the yard. The reality is they can't. In fact they've failed so often to even provide title to their clients who bought a house from them, it amounts to fraud.
Sharks and snakes aside there are places in the country to buy houses inexpensively often for less than $25,000, but instead of a burned out shell you can find homes that are readily rented to tenants eager to move in immediately.
