This video is of a World War II veteran who was on NBC and it was mentioned that he had no heat.  After it aired people started emailing and sending money, gift cards, and food donations to this man.  Someone helped him get more of his veteran benefits that he hadn't been receiving. People helped fix his house and make it more air tight. 

He didn't ask for help but he needed it.  Watch his face and listen to how surprised and touched he is.  This man is a veteran, which means he is a hero in my book.  I'm so happy that people reached out to him to help him.  At the end of the clip he says "it's the best Christmas present I ever got." 

Are there people in your community who need help but won't ask for it? Let's make it a year round thought and not stop at the holiday time.

Cool story.  I wonder how much more of an effect the new internet could have on helping people in tough times if someone could harness media using 2009 tech...
