MeMe, Why Me???

First and foremost I want to thank ( I think) my friend Dena Stevensfor tagging me..... Sighhhhh--I guess I can't hide forever......

First things first. Here are the rules:

  • 1. Create a blog post with a link to the person who so happily tagged you. See above!
  • 2. List all of these rules in the post. Feel free to cut and paste this.
  • 3. Share seven things that others may not know about you.
  • 4. Identify seven friends, contacts or near enemies in which to adorn this MEME. Tag them at the end of the post and give a link to their blog.
  • 5. Contact each of the tagged members and let them know that you were indeed fast enough to catch them and that you did indeed tag them...no matter how much they say you missed them! No schoolyard rules in this MEME, nope you gotta do it if you are tagged. Sorry guys!
  • Things you don't know about Deb:

    1. One of my life goals is to canoe the Boundary waters and boat on all of the Great Lakes.
    2. I have a friend who worked for 8 years in the Reagan White House and currently is a lobbyist for groups working to keep internet access open and available to all.
    3. I was chosen MVP of my 8th grade volleyball team!
    4. My first language was Japanese. My father was in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan in the early 50's and as a result I lived there from the age of 6 moths to about 5. I was sent home from kindergarten with a note to my parents that I was "talking gibberish" and having hallucinations and they should get me psychiatric help immediately. It was the mid 50's and here was an African American kid in a mostly white school talking about the snow and speaking Japanese....I got to take my passport and my father in full dress uniform for show and tell......
    5. I am an only child, which most people never suspect except for the fact that I am totally comfortable doing just about anything by myself because I grew up being alone and always doing things by myself and on my own. I am still surprised when people talk about being uncomfortable going to a movie or eating out, especially on a weekend by themselves.
    6. I love the water but never learned to swim until I was in my forties. A friend we were vacationing with at Lake Powell finally realized that I was not just being prissy by staying in the seat and holding on whenever the boat was underway or never volunteering to take th bow when we were docking - I was actually afraid of falling overboard because I could't swim. He helped me relax and feel totally comfortable in the water.
    7. In the mid 1970's I worked for a brief time as an editorial assistant for the CHICAGO DAILY NEWS

Yep, Japanese. And Sushi is still one of my very favorite foods. Someday, when I grow up, Dena, I will be half as interesting a person as you are! :-) I never cease to be amazed at you.
