First and foremost I want to thank ( I think) my friend Dena Stevensfor tagging me..... Sighhhhh--I guess I can't hide forever......
First things first. Here are the rules:
Things you don't know about Deb:
- One of my life goals is to canoe the Boundary waters and boat on all of the Great Lakes.
- I have a friend who worked for 8 years in the Reagan White House and currently is a lobbyist for groups working to keep internet access open and available to all.
- I was chosen MVP of my 8th grade volleyball team!
- My first language was Japanese. My father was in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan in the early 50's and as a result I lived there from the age of 6 moths to about 5. I was sent home from kindergarten with a note to my parents that I was "talking gibberish" and having hallucinations and they should get me psychiatric help immediately. It was the mid 50's and here was an African American kid in a mostly white school talking about the snow and speaking Japanese....I got to take my passport and my father in full dress uniform for show and tell......
- I am an only child, which most people never suspect except for the fact that I am totally comfortable doing just about anything by myself because I grew up being alone and always doing things by myself and on my own. I am still surprised when people talk about being uncomfortable going to a movie or eating out, especially on a weekend by themselves.
- I love the water but never learned to swim until I was in my forties. A friend we were vacationing with at Lake Powell finally realized that I was not just being prissy by staying in the seat and holding on whenever the boat was underway or never volunteering to take th bow when we were docking - I was actually afraid of falling overboard because I could't swim. He helped me relax and feel totally comfortable in the water.
- In the mid 1970's I worked for a brief time as an editorial assistant for the CHICAGO DAILY NEWS
