So, have you been NAUGHTY or NICE???

If any agents reading this live in areas of affluence, then you know what I am talking about:  The agents at the top of Google searches that are highlighted or to the right as ads because of Googles Adwords Pay Per Clicks.  In the Main Line area, you can't even come close to being in the top five for Google searches unless you pay $10 or more (I hear it is getting up to $25 for top search names) PER CLICK!

So, have you been NAUGHTY or NICE?  Have you ever clicked on a few names KNOWING full well you are costing your competition money?

Please,be honest, we won't tell on you...promise!

Hey..I didn't know about this.  So, if I click on someone's site in google it will cost them $$$

I am getting some nasty thoughts here....Is this something that we have to go to confession for ??  My last confession didn't go so well.  The Priest thought I was funny and I was very serious.

Christopher, I believe Google is well aware of this possibility... at least they assure advertisers that they are, and that they take steps to insure advertisers aren't charged for repeated "scam" clicks like you mention. Multiple clicks from the same computer over a short period of time would probably be noticed and not charged for.

True, but that wasn't the question...I was only asking if you clicked a link knowing it would cost your competition money.  Google claims that multiple clicks will be seen as fraud, but you have to TRUST them on that one...but say you clicked one or two links...well, then I doubt Google would be able to detect that you are the competition on that one!

The question was posed just to get people's perspectives on that fact that some agents will spend 10-20 bucks just to get a click through!

I actually did the opposite. When doing research of other's sites, I would always click on those first ones, figuring that they must know something, they were at the top, right?  When I realized that they were paying for it, I started going beyond the pay per click ones and even looking for their sites organically.
