Green Living Festival 2009

With everyone trying to do their part these days and become a little more "green", this upcoming weekend will be a great opportunity to find some fresh ideas.

This weekend, February 7-8, is South Carolina's Second Annual Green Living Festival

This year's festival is being held at the Omar Shrine Temple at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant from 10am-4pm each Green Living Festival 2009day.

While living a green lifestyle has a lot to do with recycling, reusing and conserving, that's not everything.  It also means that you learn who you are in the world while you take steps to be a better steward of our planet and everything on it.

This year's Green Living Festival covers it all.  There will be speakers and demonstrators on composting, meditation, living debt-free, and creating a healthy home.  The exhibition hall will be filled with booths covering an array of topics from over 30 Lowcountry vendors.

And new this year will be both a children's activity area and FLOW, a documentary on the world water crisis.

The Green Living Festival has also taken steps to reduce their environmental footsteps.  They will have recycling bins available for glass, paper and plastic.  All food and drinks will be served in biodegradable containers and the food waste will be composted.  They have also purchased Carbon Offsets to offset their energy usage and transportation effects.

Admission is $5 per day or $7 for the weekend per person, with children 12 and under admitted free with and adult.

If you'd like more information on the Festival you can check out their website at NALowcountry.com.  There's a coupon for $1 off admission there, too!

Liz: I hadn't heard of it until this year, so last year must have been a hit for them.  Everything is going that direction, so it really makes sense.
