Weekly Design Tip #1

Staging is my passion, although comPASSION is the core of my soul.

With my background being in interior design, I thought I would air on a lighter side and give weekly design tips!

TIP #1

HANGING ARTWORK/MIRRORS-

It's a very common mistake--people hang their wall art too high. Let's forget about inches from the ceiling, blah blah blah...there is a simple way

Sitting areas- artwork should be hung lower to appreciate it easier-

-the bottom of the artwork/frame should be 6" above a couch or console

-if you have high ceilings, consider another piece of artwork above this one to draw your eye up the

wall and appreciate this architechtural feature.

Hallways-  center of the picture should be eye-level to the average person (5'6")

It's the small things that make us smile. Enjoy your living space...ensure that is reflects your personality, style and taste.

Thanks for the clarification Julia.  I've been doing it right but never knew why, although years ago I heard artwork should be eye level, but I never knew level to who's eye?  So I just use my own and it seems to have worked.

Julia, We bought a house a few years ago in which the upper kitchen cabinets had been hung at a height which was not standard. They were very high. We asked the neighbors about the person who had hung them thinking he must have been tall. They said he was shorter than average. We also noticed at my cousins home the pictures were hung way to high for good viewing. My cousin and her husband are both 5'2" tall. Your tip is a good one for folks short or tall. Thanks.

Terry, Are you 5'6"? That would be why it works. :)
